Raceit, I wanted but did not have a Mongoose in my teenage years. I guess that is why I still WANT that 1980 Supergoose I never had. I am a bit closer by now having my ’96 Mongoose expert pro. I too like the old school better, but for now the Mid School is all this guy can afford. You can conquer rugged terrain on this Mongoose Argus Trail 26 fat tire bike. Mark,I really don’t know if it is threaded or not. When it was shipped to me, the forks and stem were still on the bike and I never took them off. I like mine too, I just wonder how an old school would feel in comparison.

Incidently, I bought the exact same bike a couple years later from Dunhams (first year of Pacific) and I hated it. It rode terribly no matter how many times I tried to tune it up. In collaboration with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, we have rated bike helmets using the STAR evaluation system. Our impact tests evaluate a helmet’s ability to reduce linear acceleration and rotational velocity of the head resulting from a range of head impacts a cyclist might experience.
